Three Poems

Helped

days were mannequin
i couldn't understand berrigan
i grew tired of bukowski's penis
even deer looked plastic
nothing was real but dandruff
when donning black
they chemically castrated
my inner gay penguin
so i wanted good death soon
like some viking berserker
i learned i was a trenchcoat
of snakes and rodents
how you have to keep snakes
away from softer animals

Quarter Life Crisis

maimed
a footless rabbit
a four leaf clover
you pluck
to make it grass
trampled
my face plastered
across town
very drunk after
your vengeful ghost
discards
lovey dovey voicemails
past 10 p.m.
the cat is god now
i pet her for me
solitary

Tennessee

Once my X says
I kiss like a rattlesnake
I don't know what that means
but I tongue hard.

Stars look like
goddamned massive
poked through
breathing holes out here.

Oh if only
we had whiskey
some cigars
or maybe just condoms.

The barn is warm.
Coyotes yap hungrily
at the moon.
It is a plate licked clean.
