Tritina: Die

Our lives, the lyrics of ‘Die! Die! Die!’
Less the scenes in Die Hard or Die! Die!
My Darling! or Juliet Montague’s “when he shall die,”

The way we feel when the heroines die, more our Tie-dye
grannies; drugs for our fantasy—high like “I would totally die
for you!” or “Oh My God! I just wish you would die!” The die

is cast; peace and love hide in the soul of the overdye
denim, and maybe the songs on Get Rich or Die
Tryin’—perhaps in our words we will never die,

or die down slowly. So quickly, let us die to love—what pleasure then to die.

Deep River

I wanted to cross into campground,

my dry tongue drank in the keyboard strokes,
bells ringing from my language; my deep voice
sang of terrible peace, Euphrates mirrors

scent of children and chicory yet to bloom
the lavender, rushing of rot and oyster meat
to feed the world-bound Spring

to see the Promised land.

My dream last night, discuss:

It’s like
I
want to know if
I
fly to the top of the Eiffel, would
I
even know how to land, or am
I
an idiot to handle with care.
I
thought
I
wanted to soar, and now
I
am only sure
I
don’t want to drown.
