Two Poems

Brooke Kolcow

Sitting On Our Half Of The Porch, Late Summer, Scrolling

The phrase “inherited wealth” is on my timeline
I look up at the big tree in the set sunlight
I am going to write a poem about beautiful moments
about how beautiful moments and this beautiful tree
in the beautiful light
are my wealth
But I get distracted by the clouds
There is one that looks like a huge dildo
& now all I can think about is getting screwed & how
my neighbors are on their porch laughing and sipping wine
& how they own the house I rent

I HAD A DREAM LAST NIGHT THAT I TRACKED DOWN EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER UNFOLLOWED ME AND I BROKE INTO THEIR HOMES AND I RIFFLED THROUGH THE MINUTIAE OF THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES TO FIND WAYS TO CONVINCE THEM TO FALL IN LOVE WITH ME AND IT WORKED! IT ACTUALLY WORKED AND NOW I AM WORRIED THAT HAVING THIS DREAM SECRETLY MEANS I AM A TYPE OF GUY

i am afraid of the dark/i love ghost stories

i’ve never been friends with a horse girl
but that doesn’t mean i would never

i have pretended i’ve read some books so often
that i can’t remember anymore all of the ones i lied about

the last three CDs i bought before going digital were:
Sublime
Hot Fuss
Disintegration

i think they were all destroyed in a flood
or else, my brother has them

i don’t lie about books or bands anymore

much

i did not lie here about the CDs or the flood

i lied about the horse girl
